Services Offered at the CAC
The CAC is a unique mental health facility that allows the provision of a variety of services due to the training and nature of the clinic. Below you will find a summary of the typical services provided at our two locations.
Some services vary by semester based on clinician availability, training needs, available supervisors, and community demand.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy provides a personalized and confidential space for individuals to address their unique concerns, overcome obstacles, and achieve personal growth. Clients in individual therapy will be seen by doctoral counseling psychology students under the supervision of licensed psychologists.
Individual services are typically scheduled on a weekly basis and last about 50 minutes per appointment. Services can be short-term or long-term depending on the needs, goals, and problems the client is experiencing.
Individual Therapy for Adults
Adult individual therapy is typically provided by student clinicians in the Counseling Psychology doctoral program. This type of treatment is focused on the individual’s needs at the time and works best when the client and therapist work together to determine goals and routes for achievement.
Each treatment plan varies based on the client’s needs, personality, and the therapist’s training and philosophy. Counselors at the clinic are trained in using techniques and approaches such as:
- Interpersonal
- Emotion-focused
- Client-centered
- Psychodynamic
- Cognitive-behavioral
Individual Therapy for Children & Adolescents
Child or adolescent individual therapy is typically provided by student clinicians in the School Psychology doctoral program. Child therapy typically focuses on issues related to:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Divorce
- Behavioral and emotional issues
- School adjustment
- Parenting concerns
Parents/guardians/caregivers and the child’s family may be heavily involved in the treatment, especially with younger children, or when parent/sibling conflict is part of the main concern. Counselors at the clinic often use behavioral approaches to work with children.
Student clinicians can also conduct school observations or work with teachers when caregiver permission is provided.
Couples/Marital Therapy
Couples therapy typically involves the couple working jointly with one or two therapists to address relationship concerns. In this type of intervention, the relationship (rather than each individual) is considered the client.
The majority of sessions will involve both individuals working together, but there may be some one-on-one appointments during the intake portion of treatment. These services are generally scheduled on a weekly basis for 50 minutes.

Assessment Services
At our center, assessment services involve administering psychological measures to address specific referral questions related to emotional, cognitive, or academic functioning. Our clinicians conduct intake interviews and schedule several 2-4 hour block appointments over a 2-5 week period to complete the assessment process thoroughly. Following the testing, clients receive comprehensive feedback sessions where results are explained, along with professional opinions on any diagnostic considerations.
